Planned Parenthood to open clinic in Juneau

Planned Parenthood of Alaska has made public its plans to open a clinic in Juneau by the fall of 2006. According to Planned Parenthood, the Juneau Pro-Choice Coalition has already raised $150,000 of the estimated $500,000 needed to open the clinic. Planned Parenthood said the rest of the funding would come from "many different sources."

Planned Parenthood of Alaska's CEO, Clover Simon, told local media, "We are very confident this will happen now that we have the funding."

According to accounts in the Juneau Empire, Planned Parenthood is reviewing spaces for the clinic, Simon said. She did not want to disclose potential Juneau locations until the deal is finalized. The clinic will be open at least four days a week and staffed with about seven people, Simon said.

STOPP has been working with some people in the state, but we ask all our readers to spread the word that STOPP is available to help fight this PP clinic. Anyone interested in getting involved should send an e-mail to stopp@all.org and put ALASKA in the subject line.

Planned Parenthood wants to open surgical abortion facility in Bozeman

Information has reached STOPP that Planned Parenthood of Montana is considering opening a surgical abortion facility in Bozeman. Planned Parenthood has stopped doing surgical abortions in Missoula (see story below) and is considering both Great Falls and Bozeman as possible locations for its surgical abortion business. PP said that Bozeman is its primary focus.

Planned Parenthood currently has a facility in Great Falls that does chemical abortions, but has no facility in Bozeman.

Any readers in Montana who want to help stop the potential surgical abortion facility in Bozeman, before it gets off the ground, please send an e-mail to stopp@all.org and put MONTANA in the subject line.

ALL launches full-scale national campaign to stop Planned Parenthood tax funding

Our STOPP effort is part of American Life League. So the following announcement will tell you about a new effort we have launched here to defeat Planned Parenthood taxpayer funding.

"Millions of Americans are sick and tired of their tax dollars being used to underwrite Planned Parenthood - the largest abortion chain and most aggressive promoter of sexual immorality in our nation," said David Bereit, executive director of American Life League. "On the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that forced abortion upon all 50 states, American Life League is launching an aggressive nationwide campaign to stop every dollar of Planned Parenthood taxpayer funding at the local, state, and national levels."

American Life League has established a web site for the campaign: www.StopPlannedParenthoodTaxFunding.com.

"Since the Roe v. Wade decision, Planned Parenthood has aborted more than three million innocent American children, and scarred countless women for a lifetime," said Bereit. "Six states have already blocked Planned Parenthood taxpayer funding, and American Life League is working to build on this momentum and achieve similar results in the remaining 44 states."

According to its latest annual report, Planned Parenthood took in more than $265 million in federal, state and local tax funding in the last fiscal year, amounting to approximately one-third of the organization's income. "Planned Parenthood will not survive without our taxpayer dollars," said Bereit. "That's why people of faith and conscience are uniting in historic numbers to hit the abortion giant where it hurts the most - in the pocketbook."

Bereit added, "We will not stop until Planned Parenthood ceases to receive taxpayer funding and shuts its doors forever."

We encourage all of our readers to sign the petition at the web site and to spread news of this campaign to all your contacts.

Planned Parenthood stopping surgical abortion business in Missoula

According to a published report in the Billings Gazette, Planned Parenthood of Montana has decided to stop offering surgical abortions at its Missoula office, starting February 1. They will still offer medical (RU-486) abortions.

Planned Parenthood committed 312 abortions at its Missoula facility last year. Although some of these women will most likely go to other abortionists, it is reasonable to assume that some of these babies will be saved because PP Missoula no longer surgically kills babies at this location.
