It's summertime: When Planned Parenthood targets more activities at teens

During the summer months families take vacations, kids enjoy school-free days and Planned Parenthood ramps up its attack on our teens. This is the time of year when Planned Parenthood is particularly active in spreading its message of uninhibited sex, birth control and abortion.

The examples given below of what Planned Parenthood is doing are meant to give you an idea of the kinds of programs PP pushes during the summer. In addition to opposing these specific programs, you should be actively monitoring your local Planned Parenthood and opposing all of its activities.

Planned Parenthood paying teens to corrupt others in Minnesota

Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota is running this summer a Reach One Teach One (ROTO) peer education program. Targeting 13-18 year olds, it is being offered in the Twin Cities metro area, Duluth and Rochester.

Planned Parenthood describes ROTO as a "fun and innovative program, led by our sexuality educators, [that] teaches teens to teach their peers ..." Topics addressed in the program include anatomy, birth control, sexually transmitted infections (diseases), friendship, love, making decisions about sex , eating disorders, depression and suicide, sexual violence, tolerance and speaking up.

According to Planned Parenthood, the teens attend approximately 30 hours of in-depth training over a 12-week period, usually two sessions per week. Once they have completed the training, they can provide others with information, materials and referrals during what is referred to as a contact. A contact is talking informally, for at least 15 minutes, to a person or small group. Participants are paid a small stipend for each documented contact made with peers or family members.

Planned Parenthood says that, after training, "we pay participants to teach others." But, Planned Parenthood says, "participants must make a commitment to complete the training and make up to 30 contacts."

So, here is Planned Parenthood "sexuality educators" indoctrinating teens in its immoral programs and then sending them out and paying them to corrupt at least 30 of their friends.

Can anyone say: Planned Parenthood must be STOPPed?

Planned Parenthood rewarding teen referrals in Denver

Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains in Denver has a different twist on teens corrupting other teens.

In this program, teens are instructed to download a Tell-A-Friend card and fill out the back of the card with their name, address and phone number (or pick up Tell-A-Friend cards at any Planned Parenthood health center in Metro Denver) and give the Tell-A-Friend cards to any friends who don't go to Planned Parenthood; PP says that when they come in for an appointment - and turn in your card - we will mail you two FREE movie passes (that can be redeemed at any United Artist theater) and your friend will receive $10 off her visit.

These are business tactics aimed at attracting Planned Parenthood's primary customers - young people under the age of 25.

Planned Parenthood's attack on teens in San Francisco area

Planned Parenthood Golden Gate, in California, is running the same promotion of two free movie tickets, but without the $10 discount for services.

Here is PPGG's list of programs targeting teens:

  • With the "Tell A Friend" campaign, youth who refer friends to PPGG receive movie tickets and are eligible to win an iPod in a raffle.
  • Street teams are handing out thousands of safe sex packs containing condoms and information on PPGG health services at college campuses, house parties and gyms.
  • PPGG is also working on incorporating youth driven technologies like text messaging into its advocacy outreach and appointment scheduling systems.

"Our goal at Planned Parenthood is to reach as many teens and young adults as possible with our safe is sexy message," said Dian Harrison, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Golden Gate. "Studies have shown that young people typically seek information from their peers. The social network, online and off, is one of the best ways to get our safety and prevention message out. Every aspect of this outreach is designed to get people talking."

American Life League also wants to get people talking - about how to close down Planned Parenthood!

Planned Parenthood targeting teens and pre-teens in Waco

Another summer program of Planned Parenthood takes place in Waco, Texas and is called Nobody's Fool. It is run by Planned Parenthood of Central Texas and is a particularly outrageous event. The event targets kids in fifth through ninth grade. For the last couple of years, every child in the seventh through the ninth grade was sent home with a free copy of the book "It's Perfectly Normal."

Pro-Life Waco, an American Life League associate group, has been fighting against this program for many years and is planning to demonstrate its opposition to the Planned Parenthood event again this year.

Planned Parenthood activities in Oregon

Planned Parenthood of the Columbia/Williamette, headquartered in Portland, Oregon uses the summer months to spread its message throughout the community. This affiliate has 20 events (at fairs, festivals, etc.) scheduled before the end of July. Wouldn't it be absolutely fantastic if PP were met with a pro-life contingent at each of their venues?

An action summer

Now that you are aware of just a few of Planned Parenthood's nefarious summer programs, we ask you to be active in your community opposing PP events. Many pro-lifers view the summer as the time to get a rest and get recharged for the battle. But the enemy is not resting.

Increase your prayer life in the summer and God will give you the insight, the motivation and the courage to peacefully and prayerfully oppose Planned Parenthood wherever it tries to spread its anti-family, anti-child and anti-God philosophies.

Now is the time for action - the lives and souls of your children are depending on you.

See the next item for an example of how God works when you take action.

Planned Parenthood targeting minority teens in Dallas

Every summer, Planned Parenthood of North Texas runs its Teen Savvy event. This program is taught to children ages 11 and up. Last summer, American Life League participated with the Dallas-area Coalition Against Planned Parenthood to demonstrate outside the event. Our observation was that nearly all the teens attending the event were minorities.

This year's event was held yesterday. Here is a firsthand report from people who were at the demonstration.

Protest of Planned Parenthood's Teen Savvy - Dallas, Texas - July 11, 2006

Teen Savvy is the Planned Parenthood of North Texas annual workshop to promote their sex education agenda to children ages 11 and up. It focuses on children from various social service agencies that bus them in for the event. This year marks the 17th annual Teen Savvy.

The vanguard of pro-lifers arrived at the front entrance of TW Browne Middle School on Sprague Drive at 8:00 a.m. After others arrived and observed that signs were posted directing Teen Savvy staff, agencies and volunteers to enter on the Boulder Drive side, we moved around there. More and more concerned citizens joined us and the estimate was that over 50 people stood for truth and life against Planned Parenthood in the streets of Dallas.

Organizations that participated were Texans for Life Coalition, Catholic Pro-Life Committee of North Texas (Respect Life Ministry of the Diocese of Dallas), Catholics Respect Life (Respect Life Ministry of the Diocese of Fort Worth), Texas Life Chain, and Texans Opposed to Planned Parenthood - all under the banner of the Dallas-area Coalition Against Planned Parenthood.

We held the red "Stop Planned Promiscuity" signs, the purple "Planned Parenthood Steals Souls" signs, and a few of the ones stating "Planned Parenthood - America's Largest Abortion Provider - 33% funded by your tax $$$". From the entrance to the TW Browne parking lot, we covered both sides of Boulder Drive and a little father south toward Loop 12 from where most of the vehicles came. We had a video camera positioned across the street from the parking lot entrance and were able to film the activities. We also had the head of our Latino outreach standing close to the entrance, providing the truth in Spanish when it was needed.

A special addition to this year's Teen Savvy protest was the appearance of David from Fort Worth and his 11-foot high tablets of the Ten Commandments. These were strategically placed at the entrance of the school parking lot. David also blessed us with his trumpet renditions of "Jesus Loves the Little Children", "Jesus Loves Me This I Know" and other hymns of the faith.

We spoke to one mother who slowed down to look at our signs. She told us that she had been there at 8:00 that morning to try to register her daughter at Teen Savvy but was informed it was too early and to come back after 9:00. We then told her that this was a workshop sponsored by Planned Parenthood of which the woman was not aware. She said she was told it was an "abstinence rally" and knew nothing about Planned Parenthood being involved. The woman indicated to us that she was going to call her daughter at home to tell her she would not be going to this event. When we walked away, the woman was on the phone.

The vans carrying the children started arriving a little later than last year. And the majority of them were unmarked so as to hide the identity of the Teen Savvy collaborators. Also, many children arrived in private vehicles. The vans that were marked were from Girls, Inc., Alameda Heights Community Center, North Dallas Community Center, West Dallas Community Center, Bethlehem Community Center, Juvenile Department of Dallas County, something called "Tent 17", and the First Presbyterian Church of Dallas. We took down license plate numbers on the unmarked vans, but most of them were rentals.

The majority of the vans arrived by 10:00 or so, but there were many late-comers straggling in. Then around 11:00 more cars started coming which we surmised were lunch volunteers or the afternoon shift. During this time two vans arrived loaded with children from a Baptist Church. An immediate call was placed to the phone number on the vans and we were put in touch with one of the pastors. When he was told that two of his church vans full of children were at a Planned Parenthood conference he said there must be some mistake. He was fully aware of what Planned Parenthood is all about, but was told that Teen Savvy was an "abstinence teaching" and he was not aware of the connection with Planned Parenthood. He then called the youth pastor on his cell phone. The youth pastor had pulled into the parking lot of TW Browne just a few minutes before. Of course at the time we didn't know he was the youth pastor. After we hung up with the one pastor at the church, we watched as the youth pastor came out of the school and got back into his car. He also had a conversation with another man - not sure if it was a Teen Savvy staffer or one of the DISD security personnel. The two empty church vans were parked next to the youth pastor's car. About 15 minutes later, those church vans loaded with the children pulled out of that parking lot and headed back in the direction from whence they came - all to the cheers of those of us watching in amazement! Praise the Lord for sparing these children!

While the drama of the church vans was going on, two pastors from the little church across the street came out to see what all the commotion was about. After all, these huge tablets of the Ten Commandments were practically in their front yard! David was able to minister to them and tell them the truth about Planned Parenthood. Neither of them had a clue about the agenda of Planned Parenthood, and they were totally blown away by what they heard. At their request we will follow up with sending them literature.

Then a gentleman from Tyler, Texas, showed up after hearing a show about our planned protest on KCBI yesterday. He had been in Dallas on business and arrived at the picket as soon as he could get there. This man proceeded to pray mightily at the edge of the TW Browne parking lot along with one of the pastors from the little church. The louder and more strongly they prayed the more irritated Planned Parenthood personnel became. They talked to a police officer but there was nothing he could do. Thank God for our right to pray on the public sidewalk.

As these two gentlemen were ending their prayers, two parishioners of nearby St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church arrived and began praying the rosary and holding signs. The last of us departed the scene about 11:45, and these two saints were still standing, still praying, and still holding those signs!

Praise God!

Congratulations to the members of D-CAPP who showed us all how effective it is when we prayerfully, peacefully confront Planned Parenthood on the streets of our community
