"Catholic" governor of Colorado to give state money to Planned Parenthood

Gov. Bill Ritter of Colorado, who proclaims himself Catholic, is expected to provide state funding for Planned Parenthood in next year's budget.

Planned Parenthood has not received government money in Colorado for many years. The Colorado state constitution states that tax dollars would never be used for the "direct or indirect" support of abortion.

In WorldNetDaily article, Mark Hotaling, director of the Christian Family Alliance, describes the situation in Colorado and how the governor has promised to give PP taxpayer funding. CFA is imploring people in the state to take action now to prevent Planned Parenthood from receiving state funds. You can find more information from the Christian Family Alliance.

In addition to the statewide effort, American Life League is encouraging all Catholics across the country to contact Gov. Ritter and ask him to uphold his Catholic faith and not give any money to Planned Parenthood. You can e-mail the governor.

Many Catholic bishops, including Archbishop Charles J. Chaput of Denver, have issued statements against Planned Parenthood. You can read those statements at: http://www.all.org/stopp/bishops.html . Feel free to include excerpts from, and references to, the bishops' statements in the e-mails you send to Gov. Ritter.

Pro-abortion advocates use more violence in Aurora

We have informed you STOPPers in our previous Wednesday STOPP Reports that pro-abortion advocates use violence to voice their opposition.

As Eric Scheidler reports in an update on the happenings in Aurora, Illinois, not only were two pro-abortion advocates arrested for kicking memorial crosses and shoving a prayer volunteer, but also that a 17-year-old girl was hit in the arm by a pellet.

The pellet came from a BB gun fired by someone driving by in an SUV. The driver passed by once shouting obscenities, then drove by again and fired at the girl, according to a report on the Fox Valley Families Against Planned Parenthood web site.

We once again encourage you to bring a video camera along with you for any type of protest that you may be participating in outside of PP. As we have seen, there are pro-abortion advocates who use violence towards our peaceful, prayerful vigils outside of PP.

If you have any questions about videotaping your efforts to stop Planned Parenthood, please contact the STOPP office.

Pro-life Memorial Day's web site

American Life League's Pro-life Memorial Day is Monday, October 1. Go to Pro-life Memorial Day for more information on this event. This date is the first Monday in October, the day the U.S. Supreme Court begins its new session.

Remember, it is fitting that there be protests outside of Planned Parenthood on that day, since it was Planned Parenthood that brought the Griswold case to the Court, where justices somehow found the "right to privacy in sexual matters" in the emanations of the penumbra of the Constitution and that set the precedent for the decriminalization of abortion in Roe v. Wade.

Order the 2007 official Pro-Life Memorial Day T-shirt for only $6.95 (plus shipping and handling) by September 17 in order to ensure delivery by October 1. Click here to purchase your official T-shirt and be a voice for the voiceless. You can order it online or call toll free at 866-LET-LIVE.

Hannity's America exposes Planned Parenthood's lies and deceit

The "Hannity's America" program on the Fox News Channel aired a story last Sunday that focused on the lies and deceit being practiced across the country by Planned Parenthood.

The story was put together by Ainsley Earhardt and focused on a number of issues that will be familiar to all who regularly fight Planned Parenthood. Those issues include the protection of child predators by telling minor girls not to reveal the age of their much older boy friends; the deceitful way Planned Parenthood is trying to open clinics in Aurora, Illinois and Denver, Colorado; and the lies PP tells to women.

The show focused much attention on the uproar over Planned Parenthood's covert entry into Aurora.

A highlight of the show was an interview segment with women who'd had abortions at Planned Parenthood. Many of the women described how PP lied and how, in one case, when the PP abortionist determined during the abortion that the baby was older than was thought, insisted on getting more money before he would continue with the killing.

Watch the full clip of the report on Planned Parenthood on "Hannity's America," on YouTube.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America pleads for help

On September 5, Planned Parenthood Federation of America president Cecile Richards sent out an e-mail plea across the country stating how Planned Parenthood is under attack by "anti-choice" forces.

Planned Parenthood stated in the letter that this is a war. Of course, that is correct. This is a war of good versus evil; right versus wrong; life versus death.

In the letter, Planned Parenthood calls the battle in Aurora "ground zero." Planned Parenthood admits to its supporters that "it's going to take all of their efforts to open this clinic."

While Planned Parenthood focuses this e-mail on Aurora, it knows that it is also facing tough fights in Portland, Oregon and Denver, Colorado and many other towns across the country.

The e-mail is an example of how Planned Parenthood is intimidated by the tireless actions of pro-lifers across the country and shows the importance of all of us continuing to fight and shutting down Planned Parenthood.

Despite Planned Parenthood's millions of dollars, it sees itself losing many local battles and is worried. This should inspire you all to continue to fight in your community and get Planned Parenthood out of your towns and cities.

Oregon bar owners cancel Planned Parenthood events

There is a major battle going on in Portland, Oregon where pro-lifers are trying to prevent Planned Parenthood from opening an abortion facility in a predominantly African-American neighborhood.

As part of that effort, the local pro-lifers, Precious Children of Portland, have been picketing local Planned Parenthood events, including its "Sexy Tuesdays." Planned Parenthood of Columbia/Willamette describes these events as follows:

Sexy Tuesdays enables like-minded people to socialize and learn more about Planned Parenthood. Throughout the year we will host several events, ranging from social gatherings at a neighborhood bar to larger fundraising events such as an art auction or concert. The goal is to build the new generation of supporters and advocates. Together we will guide the future of PPCW as donors, board members and volunteers.

Recently, pro-lifers tried a new tactic. Instead of just demonstrating against the Sexy Tuesday events on the night they happen, pro-lifers began demonstrating outside the "neighborhood bars" that are scheduled to host an upcoming event. Owners of at least two of these establishments were upset with the pro-life protestors and asked why they were there. The pro-lifers told the owners that they were protesting the upcoming PP event. The owners then said they will cancel the PP event.

To date, at least two PP Sexy Tuesday events have been canceled by the owners of the host establishments.

This is a witness to the power of prayerful protests. Let's all begin to employ this new tactic. Don't just protest on the night of the PP event, begin your protests as soon as PP publicizes where the event is going to be.

We would love to hear the results you have with this tactic. Please e-mail us and let us know what happened.
