Planned Parenthood volunteer blames "virgin pledges" for teens getting STDs
It is not that often that we start off the Wednesday STOPP Report with reporting on a letter to the editor from a Planned Parenthood volunteer, but this letter was so absurd that it made the top story.
In the Canton, Ohio Repository, Nancy Dollard, a PP volunteer, blamed the increase in STDs among young people on "virgin pledges." PP is running out of excuses for why its own "sex education" is not stopping the spread of STDs, while PP and its philosophies are actually part of the reason why young people are participating in sexual behavior outside of marriage.
Dollard's exact comment was, "Unfortunately because of 'virgin pledges‚' teens who don't want to get pregnant end up engaging in unprotected oral and anal sex that results in a sexually transmitted disease." This is obviously quite a stretch to try to convince people to support PP. PP's philosophy does not even come close to the reality behind the promises young people make to save themselves for marriage.
Saving yourself for marriage entails saving your whole self for marriage. Young and older people understand that purity is the way to their salvation and that participating in immoral behavior is not going to help them on their path to holiness.
There are many other reasons why many young people do not lead the lifestyles that PP pushes. Praise God for the young people who make the right choice and choose the life God wants all of us to live! Furthermore, the actual chastity pledges that young people make are not just about abstaining from premarital sexual intercourse, but all forms of sexual activity outside of marriage.
The comments made in this letter to the editor are typical of PP and its supporters. PP will continue to try to brainwash more young people and their parents into believing these lies. As we reported last week, according to its 2006-2007 Annual Report, PP made $356.9 million in clinic income from selling over 1,400,000 Emergency Contraception Kits, selling birth control products to over 2,500,000 customers, killing over 289,700 preborn babies and from other clinic sales.
PP's total 2006-2007 clinic income represents an $11.8 million increase over its 2005-2006 clinic income. Planned Parenthood is going to continue to try to poison our young people with impure images and encourage them to participate in sinful, destructive behavior, all so that it can make a profit.
We encourage all of you to continue to spread the message of purity and true love--the anti-Planned Parenthood way--and praise our young people who choose to live the life of chastity.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure gives $711,485 to Planned Parenthood
More and more people are speaking up about the fact that Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a breast cancer research foundation, supports Planned Parenthood. This does not make sense, since not only is there a direct connection between abortion and breast cancer, but scientific studies show that there is a direct connection between chemical contraception and breast cancer as well. The fact that Komen Affiliates give money to PP contradicts Komen's claim that it works to end breast cancer.
The following information shows how much money each PP affiliate received from Komen Affiliates nationwide from April 1, 2005 to March 31, 2006:
PP of Texas Capital Region received $62,886 from the Austin Komen Affiliate.
PP of Idaho received $15,000 from the Boise Komen Affiliate.
PP Association of the Mercer Area received $20,000 from the Central and South Jersey Komen Affiliate.
PP of Albuquerque received $30,000 from the Central New Mexico Komen Affiliate.
PP of Sandoval received $15,000 from the Central New Mexico Komen Affiliate.
PP of New Mexico received $60,000 from the Central New Mexico Komen Affiliate.
PP of Northern New York received $2,000 from the Central New York Komen Affiliate.
PP of Central Texas received $45,000 from the Central Texas Komen Affiliate.
PP of the Rocky Mountains received -$7,163 from the Denver Metropolitan Komen Affiliate.
PP in El Paso received $5,410 from the El Paso Komen Affiliate.
PP in Grand Rapids received $14,661 from the Grand Rapids Komen Affiliate.
PP in Greater Amarillo received $11,500 from the Greater Amarillo Komen Affiliate.
PP of Nassau County received $75,000 from the Greater New York City Komen Affiliate.
PP in Madison received $30,000 from the Madison Komen Affiliate.
PP of Wisconsin received $42,077 from the Milwaukee Komen Affiliate.
PP in Milwaukee received $13,143 from the Milwaukee Komen Affiliate.
PP in Triangle received -$317 from the NC Triangle Komen Affiliate.
PP Health Systems received $21,000 from the NC Triangle Komen Affiliate.
PP in North Texas received $32,400 from the North Texas Komen Affiliate.
PP of Orange and San Bernardino Counties received $90,805 from the Orange County Komen Affiliate.
PP of Delaware received $39,987 from the Philadelphia Komen Affiliate.
PP in Phoenix received $24,850 from the Phoenix Komen Affiliate.
PP of Western Washington received $750 from the Puget Sound Komen Affiliate.
PP of San Antonio received $31,496 from the San Antonio Komen Affiliate.
PP-FYE 06-07, West Palm Beach, Florida received $36,000 from the South Florida Komen Affiliate.
Susan G. Komen Affiliates have given a total of $711,485 to Planned Parenthood affiliates across the country in only one year. This is ridiculous and must stop. We encourage you to not participate in any Susan G. Komen activities, until this organization repents and stops giving money to Planned Parenthood, an organization that kills babies, exploits women, corrupts youth and increases the likelihood of breast cancer by promoting contraception and abortion.

Two New York Planned Parenthood affiliates to merge
Planned Parenthood of Northern New York and Northern Adirondack Planned Parenthood will merge in early 2009 to form Planned Parenthood of the North Country New York, Inc. This will affect all of the eight clinics encompassed by the two affiliates.
In Planned Parenthood's business structure, an affiliate functions as a local headquarters. Each Planned Parenthood clinic belongs to an affiliate and all of the affiliates report to the national headquarters: Planned Parenthood Federation of America in New York City.
According to Ruth-Ellen Blodgett, chief executive officer of Planned Parenthood of Northern New York, the merger will not cause PP employees to be laid off, but they may be shifted into different positions. When PP clinics and/or affiliates merge, it saves PP money through cost effectiveness and elimination of duplicate high-level positions.
Currently, PP has 103 affiliates, a decrease of five affiliates since January 2008. This is the lowest number of PP affiliates since 1963. The number of PP affiliates continues to decline and PP clinics continue to close. Praise God.
Abstinence education threatens Planned Parenthood
This is a letter to the editor by Linda J. Ill of West Des Moines, Iowa, which was published in the April 3 Des Moines Register:
In the wake of the latest report on teen promiscuity--that one in four teenage girls have one or more sexually transmitted diseases--the Register ran an editorial commercial for Planned Parenthood, the organization that is the principal cause of such widespread disease among American youth ("Help Protect Teens Against Sex-Related Infections," March 21).
Linda Railsback, Planned Parenthood's "reproductive health-care provider," gushingly extols their accomplishments and echoes the sex-for-fun-without-consequences party line that abstinence-only programs are worthless, and only Planned Parenthood's brand of "comprehensive" sex instruction will prevent STDs and teen pregnancy. Planned Parenthood doles out contraceptive pills and devices like candy to girls with still-developing reproductive organs.
There is copious documentation that teen sexual activity dramatically decreases with abstinence-only programs, if taught consistently throughout middle and high school.
Railsback claims that Planned Parenthood "is passionate about empowering young men and women with the accurate information they need to make healthy life choices." How laughable.
If young men and women actually do make healthy life choices, they are empowered by virtue, self-respect and self-control and would never darken the door of Planned Parenthood.
Planned Parenthood vs. my baby
The following story was originally published by American Life League's youth outreach department, Rock for Life, in its April 7 Rock for Life Report. We are including it here because it reveals the truth behind Planned Parenthood and how it treats mothers who are carrying a precious human being inside of them. This story was written by a young woman named Alicia.
I found out I was pregnant when I bought a test and took it in a Wal-Mart bathroom stall during break (I work at Wal-Mart). I was incredibly scared and wanted a definite confirmation of "Yes, you are pregnant." I called up Planned Parenthood, knowing full well that they were in the business of abortion. However, I thought maybe I could get an inside look into what actually happens when a pregnant woman goes to Planned Parenthood for help. Were they really as bad as people say they are?
I called up Planned Parenthood and they said I could come in between such and such hours to take a pregnancy test. It took me forever to even find the place, considering there wasn't even a sign that hinted that it held a Planned Parenthood inside. I walked up and down the street and called them a few different times from my cell phone and I still couldn't find it. They wouldn't tell me their exact location, just the address and the imprecise direction of "it's by the Subway." Some man at a restaurant saw me walk by for like the 20th time and asked me if I was looking for Planned Parenthood. I said yes and he showed me how to get there. As I approached the desk and talked to a girl through a little hole in the plastic/glass, she buzzed me in and I was able to speak to her and two other young women...
When I was called in to take the test, the nurse handed me a cup and showed me to the bathroom. When I gave it back to her, she told me to sit in a room. After what seemed to be forever, she came back and said the test was positive. Without skipping a beat she asked, "Do you know what your options are?" I was half-stunned by the lack of empathy she had but, after all, this was Planned Parenthood. I told her that I was definitely keeping the baby and that abortion WAS NOT an option! My quick response caused this "she must be crazy" look on her face. . .
After the nurse figured out I was about seven-weeks pregnant, her only advice was to tell me this: "Since you're planning on keeping the baby, you need to eat extra healthy. It's like a little leech, sucking up whatever you take in." What a beautiful way to talk about this growing little human inside me! . . .
My experience with Planned Parenthood left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Not only did they fail to offer me any real help to prepare for parenthood--something you'd assume they would do with a name like that--but they also treated me in a way that just screamed "Have an abortion or get out!" . . .
Thank God for Alpha Pregnancy Care Center! I called and explained my situation and made an appointment to see "Kathy" as soon as we both could meet. Kathy was great, so nice and honest, so loving. She truly cared about what she was doing and about the girls. She made sure I knew that this baby was not a mistake and listened to me discuss my confusion and fears. We talked about adoption, but I knew that wasn't the right path for me; I definitely wanted to keep my baby. Kathy gave me a lot of great information and a list of doctors that I could see. I ended up choosing one off of Alpha's list instead of Planned Parenthood's--Planned Parenthood was so sleazy, I can only imagine who they'd refer me to! She also gave me a tour of the center, including their "stork room store." You could earn mommy/daddy credits for use in there to buy things for the baby. No money is allowed in exchange for those things, just the credits. It's really a great way for women (and even the fathers) to come in and learn pregnancy/parenting skills. They have so much there; childbirth preparation and baby care classes, as well as parenting and nutritional workshops. They even have a Bible study. When your baby is close to being born, they put together a package full of gender specific clothes, diapers, and other essentials.
I was never oblivious to the good things that Alpha has been doing; I've participated in their Walk for Life and my church has been involved with them for years. But witnessing everything directly showed me just how much they care for women. They have so much love, compassion and concern. Alpha Pregnancy Care Center gave me so much help and all for free!
All I got from Planned Parenthood was a $9 pregnancy test and a woman telling me that I'm growing a leech.
Alicia is in the middle of her third trimester and she looks forward to giving birth to her son, Aidan, in late May.
National Pro-life T-shirt Day: April 29
American Life League's sixth annual National Pro-life T-shirt Day is April 29. We encourage people of all ages to actively participate in this day by wearing either the official 2008 shirt or one from a previous year. It is a key part of our effort to end abortion by achieving the recognition of personhood from the moment of each person's creation.
In order to raise awareness, we need to have people out in public who will convey this message. We must stand up and proclaim that this tragedy cannot be allowed to continue. For some, that may involve protesting in front of a Planned Parenthood facility.
