Planned Parenthood is using the 'A' word?

In its latest attempt to draw attention away from the fact that they promote illicit sex and attempt to push it into American minds, Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio Region recently created a web site that makes the claim, "You know us from the 'A' word ... abstinence." For many people, the first word that comes to mind about Planned Parenthood is also an "A" word, but it's certainly not abstinence. It's abortion.

Planned Parenthood is hardly known - if known at all - for their use of the word "abstinence" unless it is to attack the idea that abstinence-only education is truly effective. Planned Parenthood has made numerous statements attacking abstinence education, claiming that it is ineffective and that it is unrealistic to believe that abstinence can truly be practiced.

Planned Parenthood is the last place to go to learn about abstinence. If Planned Parenthood was really all about abstinence - which it is not - why would it focus primarily on sexualizing our young people by pushing pornography and describing immoral sexual behavior in great detail (including illustrations and how-to explanations in its sex education programs and web sites)?

On this web site, Planned Parenthood says, "Our comprehensive sexuality education programs begin with abstinence," but implies that having sex outside of marriage is acceptable as well. Moreover, it defines abstinence as merely "not having sexual intercourse."

Planned Parenthood is known as the nation's largest provider of birth control and abortion, so don't buy its latest claim that it firmly believes in abstinence education. On this web site, it discusses the advantages and disadvantages of abstinence and offer teens this advice: "If you're counting on abstinence, and change your mind in the heat of the moment, it's important to have a back-up plan for preventing pregnancy and STIs."

Do not be misled. Planned Parenthood is not about abstinence. It's throwing this word out there to get more customers and brainwash people into thinking that it is an organization parents should trust with their kids. It certainly is not! If you want your kids to get sexually active, lose their innocence, contract a STD and even get an abortion then yes, Planned Parenthood is the organization that can arrange all of that for you. It certainly is not teaching our children the true virtue of chastity.

Missouri health foundation gives money to Planned Parenthood

The Missouri Foundation for Health recently gave grants to 21 local nonprofit organizations, including Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice. The foundation awarded the grants "to provide improved health care for area residents," according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region was granted $193,200 for "gynecological and family planning services, sexually transmitted disease testing and treatment and male reproductive health care." In addition, NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri Foundation was given $92,966 for "reproductive health and pregnancy prevention education in poor and rural communities across the state."

The Journal also stated, "The Missouri Foundation for Health is the state's largest health-care foundation and was established in 2000 by the conversion of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Missouri from non-profit to for-profit status. MFH is in its sixth year of grantmaking, having issued more than $280 million in grants and awards to date."

We encourage all of our readers, especially those in Missouri, to contact the Missouri Foundation for Health and let them know that they should not be funding the nation's largest abortion chain nor any other abortion promoters or providers. Their address is 1000 St. Louis Union Station, Suite 400, St. Louis, MO 63103. Their phone number is 800-655-5560, and their e-mail address is info@mffh.org.

The pill claims yet another victim: Marriage

The birth control pill, a chemical abortifacient, disturbs the natural selection process by which a woman identifies her perfect match, a recent study conducted at the University of Liverpool shows.

This is significant data. We've known for a long time that birth control ruins marriages and leaves families emotionally devastated; now we know there's apparently a biological reason for it. Birth control is duping women into falling for the wrong men.

The study, reported by the Times on August 13, found that birth control disturbs one of the primary ways women find compatible mates: odor attraction. Women are naturally attracted to men with dissimilar, complementary genes that are identified through their scent. The pill disrupts this process and makes women attracted to men with genes similar to their own.

When women go off the pill, their attraction to their partner is often decreased. They realize they've picked the wrong man. And we wonder why the divorce rate is so high?

"Not only could... similarity in couples lead to infertility problems, but it could ultimately lead to the breakdown of relationships when women stop using the pill, as odor perception plays a significant role in maintaining attraction to partners," said Dr. Craig Roberts, the study's lead researcher.

A new resource in the fight against Planned Parenthood

We are excited to tell you about a new resource, created by Life Dynamics in Denton, Texas, that will greatly aid in the battle against Planned Parenthood. Life Dynamics has created a new web site that features every issue (from 1917 to 1940) of the Birth Control Review - Planned Parenthood's premier publication during its early days, when it was called the American Birth Control League.

In addition, the site contains many of the writings of Margaret Sanger, who founded the American Birth Control League. What is best of all is that the entire set of material is searchable, so you can quickly locate what you are looking for. We encourage you to visit http://www.lifedynamics.com/library/ and use this valuable resource often in this fight.

Planned Parenthood riled up over Colorado personhood amendment

Planned Parenthood is outraged by Colorado's Amendment 48, "an amendment to the Colorado constitution defining the term 'person' to include any human being from the moment of fertilization as 'person' is used in those provisions of the Colorado constitution relating to inalienable rights, equality of justice, and due process of law."

Planned Parenthood sees this effort as a threat to its abortion business and its lucrative birth control business, which involves selling products that kill human beings in the womb. Planned Parenthood says that the amendment is too far reaching.

Colorado is not the first state to attempt to add a personhood amendment to its constitution. "This is a concerted national effort, and they tried in Georgia and Montana and some other states but it didn't get on the ballot. We drew the short stick," Vicki Cowart, president and chief executive officer of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, said, as reported by the Durango Herald. "It's so extreme and so deceptive."

Michaela Dasteel, executive director of Life Guard, an American Life League Associate group in Durango, Colorado, responded, "Is it too far-reaching? How is restoring dignity and respect to all human beings too far-reaching?"

Dasteel compared Roe v. Wade to the Dred Scott decision in 1857, when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that slaves were not considered people under federal law. "It was overturned because it was based on a premise that people weren't defined as human beings. That led to not only the end of slavery, but the end of a way of life in the South that was based on slavery."

Pray for the state of Colorado and for its voters, so that Amendment 48 will be passed.

Congressman Chabot joins fight against Planned Parenthood

Congressman Steven Chabot has joined the battle in Cincinnati, Ohio to stop Planned Parenthood from moving into a new facility that is located near three high schools. Congressman Chabot has collected signatures Cincinnati's West Side for his petition to prevent Planned Parenthood from moving into this new location. So far, Chabot has collected 1,000 signatures for his petition.

When asked why he was becoming involved, Chabot replied, "This relocation affects the moral fabric of the West Side. A decision to put a facility of this nature so close to our local schools should involve the community, and I'm doing what I can to ensure they have a say in the makeup of their neighborhood."

American Life League is proud to be helping the group Protect Cincinnati, which has been organized to oppose this move by Planned Parenthood. We encourage all of our supporters in the Ohio and Northern Kentucky area to do what you can to help fight PP. Go to www.ProtectCincinnati.org to learn what you can do.

Denver's archbishop will pray outside Planned Parenthood

The Archdiocese of Denver has announced that it will hold a prayer vigil outside of the nation's largest abortion facility on August 25. The prayer vigil will include a peaceful protest and talks that will be given by a small group of speakers and will conclude with a candlelight walk.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Alveda King, niece of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and director of African American Outreach for Gospel of Life Ministries. Dr. King will address Planned Parenthood's specific targeting of minorities and address abortion as the greatest enemy of civil rights. "The fight against abortion is a new frontier in the Civil Rights Movement," Dr. King has stated. "We are not following Martin's dream if we do not stand up for the voiceless."

Joining Dr. King at the podium will be Archbishop Charles Chaput and Pastor Ralph Beechum of House of Joy Miracle Deliverance Church. Others in attendance will include Most Rev. James Conley, Auxiliary Bishop of Denver; Pastor Patrick L. Demmer, Jr. of Graham Memorial Community Church of God in Christ; and Pastor Willard Johnson of Macedonia Baptist Church in Park Hill.

Colorado's Catholic bishops have long been active in the Catholic Church's fight against Planned Parenthood and abortion. In November 2007, they issued this statement:

We urge the Catholic community and all people of good will to defend themselves and their beliefs against Planned Parenthood by every legal and ethical means at their disposal. We ask all Catholics to pray, within their families and parish communities, that the dignity and sanctity of every human life will be upheld at all stages of development.

Good news from Portland!

All subscribers to the Wednesday STOPP Report received an action alert last week asking you to contact government officials in Portland, Oregon. We were trying to help the local anti-Planned Parenthood group, Precious Children of Portland, in their efforts to prevent the transfer of the land on which PP plans to build an abortuary. The closing on the land deal was set for August 13.

At the last minute, the land developers asked the city for a 60-day extension, which the city granted. So the land was not sold last week, and pro-lifers have up to 60 days to try to end this travesty. This land was originally supposed to be sold in December 2007. Thus, the construction of the abortion facility has already been delayed eight months and the ownership transfer still has not taken place.

Thank you to all who responded to our action alert, and please keep praying that this abortion facility will never be built.
